Two days of chemo are completed. Charlie is handling these treatments like the champion he is. Two more days of inpatient chemo, then we can potentially do the remainder of this cycle as outpatient treatments if he is tolerating it well.

We were presently surprised that his metabolic lab results were totally unchanged this morning, even after receiving his first three chemo drugs last night.

He is on lots of IV fluids to help his body flush out the chemo, which is making him appear a little puffy. He has been pretty sleepy today. But all in all, I’d say we are starting off strong.

We learned about the stem cell collection process that will occur after his first chemo cycle is completed. More to come on that.

When we think about everything yet to come, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, so we’re choosing to focus on short term goals. Little by little, day by day, we are going to get to the finish line.

Our nurse yesterday was back today and was a total blessing to us. Charlie’s genetic and oncology teams seem to be working really well together, despite never having worked together previously.

We keep spying that bell that we are now two days closer to ringing.
